Once you have heated the Groomers goop degreaser, start with a dry cat that has been completely combed out to ensure there are no mats on the coat. Start applying the groomers goop to the cat, this is done by starting with a dry coat it is easiest to start with the cats back, slowly start working your way around to the cat’s stomach, armpits and rear legs. Work the groomers goop into the ruff of the cat and down to the front legs, feet and armpits.
I have all the tools I need for the cat bath within arm’s reach such as tooth brushes, wash clothes, towels and a plastic cup for rinsing the cat during the bath. To wash the head of the cat, you can use the groomers goop, but be careful not to get the goop close to or in the eyes of the cat. I have a wash cloth handy in the event I get something into the kittys eye such as shampoo. Continue to work the groomers goop degreaser into the coat of the cat until the entire cat has been degreased. Pay special attention to the areas that tend to produce oil such as the area around the ears, arm pits, ruff and tail. Some cats get a condition called Stud Tail. Stud tail will be discussed in another article.
The tail of the cat requires special attention and should be treated like gold, even in today’s gold market! The hair on the tail of a cat does not grow as the rest of the coat does.
More on show coats to come in future articles.
